Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people chose to spend their lives living near to the place where they were born. There are several reasons to this decision. Although, living close to birthplace has many advantages and also have some disadvantages, this essay will include examples from my own knowledge.
One of the main reasons is that people have strong relationships with their families and friends. Staying in same area allows them to receive support and spend time with their loved ones. Another reason is that they already know their local communities, which makes life easier and more comfortable. In addition, some people have stable jobs or family businesses, so they do not feel the need to move elsewhere.
Living close to where people were born offers several benefits. They can easily het help from their family members, save time adjusting to a new place and maintain long term relationships. This often gives them sense to of belonging and security. For example, one of my relative lives many years of his life in same town and enjoys a happy life because he is surrounded by family and trusted friends.
However, there are some disadvantages. People who never leave their hometown may miss better education and career opportunities in other cities or countries. They also may have fewer chances to meet new people, experience different culture, language and development of new skills. As a result, their personal and professional growth may be limited.
In conclusion, people may live close to the place where they born because of their family, stable employment and familiar surroundings. While this choice provides comfort and support, it may also reduce the opportunities of personal and professional development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the advantages are listed rather than deeply explored, and the example provided about a relative is quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or nuanced examples. The position is clear throughout, and the essay structure is appropriate for the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each aspect of the prompt, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the main reasons', 'In addition', and 'However' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is mostly clear, though there are minor instances where the connection between sentences could be tighter to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'stable employment', 'familiar surroundings', and 'professional growth'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'het help' (likely a typo for 'get') and 'gives them sense to of belonging' (grammatically awkward). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the overall range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing to convey your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist, such as 'Some people chose to spend' (should be 'choose'), 'There are several reasons to this decision' (should be 'for'), and 'one of my relative' (should be 'relatives'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy would be beneficial.
