Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons, advantages, and disadvantages are identified. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While the advantage of social support is clearly explained, the disadvantage regarding career limitations is less thoroughly explored. The example regarding India is relevant but could be more effectively integrated to support the argument. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis remains at a basic level, preventing it from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each point is expanded with more detailed reasoning or a more specific, illustrative example.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Too much attraction for birth place'. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could benefit from more varied linking words to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'city', 'same', and 'job'. Phrases such as 'knowns' (to refer to friends/family) and 'no well developed' are unnatural or grammatically incorrect. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'migrate' and 'opportunities', the range is limited. To achieve a higher score, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing and improve the overall tone of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'the and foremost', 'relation ships', 'on regular bases', and 'It is totally depends'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not impede overall communication. The student demonstrates an attempt at complex sentences, but these are often marred by small errors in subject-verb agreement or article usage. More attention to proofreading and mastering basic grammatical rules would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of the writing.
