Student answer (Band 6.0)
Hometown is a place where we create our first memories of our lives. It has a strong connection with us. There are many people who never prefer to take a step out from where they born, there are plenty of reasons behind this. However, in my prospective, it has both pros and cons which i will articulate in forthcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, one of main reasons among many is familiar atmosphere. Some people don’t prefer changes in their lives, they indulge themselves in same atmosphere since their childhood, which is the reason they are not comfortable to move to another country or city because they don’t want to accept change in their lifestyle. Lets take an example of mu husband, he is so attached to his town and very comfortable with his routine and atmosphere. He always says that he remembers routes of his city on his tips, where to go in emergency, where to go when he is emotional, and many others this, and that’s the only reason he does not want to move. Second reason is people who live in a particular place from a very long time or since their childhood, they have a enough knowledge regarding everything like which places are best to visit in their city , which food is pest. Additionally, they keep their selves up to date very quickly and easily regarding new job opportunities. Thus, when they know that they can have a beautiful future in their city , moving to another city or country is a stupidity according to them
Lets move to it’s advantages, birth places are not just a city, they are emotions for people. People feel more safe and comfortable living in same culture and atmosphere. However it has a disadvantage as well, because of their comfort zone, they avoid taking challenges and risks in their life which make their inner confidence low when they have to deal with difficult situations by visiting to different places.
In conclusion, no doubt living in a same place has both benefits and drawbacks but in my opinion hometown plays a very important role in our lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's hometown, and the advantages and disadvantages. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the reasons are supported by personal examples, the discussion of advantages and disadvantages is relatively brief and could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The ideas are relevant, but the analysis lacks the depth required for a higher score, as some points, such as the 'disadvantage' of avoiding challenges, are mentioned but not fully elaborated upon.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, although there are occasional slips in flow. The paragraphing is appropriate for the task. To improve, you should focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more fluid, rather than relying on simple, repetitive connectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You attempt some less common collocations like 'familiar atmosphere' and 'job opportunities'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'on his tips' (likely meaning 'at his fingertips'), 'pest' (instead of 'best'), and 'is a stupidity' (which is not natural English). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision and sophistication of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary and focusing on natural collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('where they born'), missing articles ('in same atmosphere'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are run-on or lack necessary prepositions. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and article usage, and try to incorporate more complex structures with greater precision.
