Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons, advantages, and disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of 'family attachment' is brief, and the discussion on disadvantages is limited to a single point about creativity. The essay structure is clear, but the arguments lack depth and specific examples to fully support the points made. The introduction is also slightly confusing due to phrasing issues. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations and concrete examples, ensuring that each paragraph provides a thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Eventually' are used incorrectly to introduce a contrast, and 'In other words' is used where it does not logically connect the preceding thought. Additionally, some sentences lack clear referencing, making the flow feel disjointed at times. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the one before it.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'echelons' to refer to people, 'pre-settlement' for family business, and 'reel under from difficult period'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of control over collocations and word forms limits your score. Try to focus on learning common word pairings and using more precise terminology to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people do not be able'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'deprived of from'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and some sentence fragments or run-on structures occur. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to be distracting. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would significantly improve your writing.
