Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some school divide classes based on the student's intellectual ability.

Is this positive or negative development.

The relative benefits and drawbacks of separating the classes on the behalf of intellectual ability in some learning institutes are a matter of debate. In my opinion, while there are some negatives of this, these are overweigh by the positives.

On the one hand, there are two drawbacks of this situation. Firstly, pupils who are in the weaker section of the classes often feel demotivated. In other words, they may be considered that they do not have comprehensive skills to do better in their school curriculum. As a result of this, they might be stop doing efforts to improve themselves. Secondly, in the perspective of institute, it will be very expensive for them to provide infrastructure to different section of the group. Since there are two different category student, authority have to hire more teacher and build more rooms to teach them separately.

However, despite the negatives, dividing the educators based on their cognitive ability can be considered largely positive. In some cases, a few students are limited mental capacity. Which mean they need some time to process information and in other words they are slow learner. Therefore, they need extra time and efforts to understand things. Not only this, it also beneficial for the holistic development of pupil. They are in a group in which they all are equal, and they can grow together with the help of good teacher and their own practices.

In conclusion, although the drawbacks of this trend are undeniable, these are not as significant as the positives holistic development and prover guidance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about people living close to their birthplace, but you have written an essay about streaming students by ability in schools. Because you have not addressed the task set, the score is severely impacted. While you have presented a clear position and developed arguments, they are entirely irrelevant to the prompt provided. To improve, you must carefully read the task instructions and ensure your ideas directly answer the specific question asked.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure of your argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas. While the content is irrelevant to the prompt, the internal structure and flow of the text are coherent and easy to follow, which prevents a lower score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'intellectual ability', 'comprehensive skills', 'infrastructure', and 'holistic development'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'on the behalf of' instead of 'on the basis of' and 'prover guidance' instead of 'proper guidance'. However, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding minor spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'these are overweigh by the positives' (should be 'overweighed'), 'they might be stop doing efforts' (should be 'stop making efforts'), and 'there are two different category student' (should be 'categories of students'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. While these errors are frequent, they do not generally impede the reader's understanding of your intended message.
