Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's hometown, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported with examples, such as the mention of joint family structures in India and the personal experience of moving to Canada. However, some points are slightly under-developed, and the conclusion is a bit repetitive. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis could be improved to reach a higher band by exploring the socio-economic implications of these choices more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'On the flip side', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'despite that it also have few drawbacks which limits many individuals' in the introduction, which lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the transition between ideas could be smoother to achieve a more natural progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary era' and 'specialized', but there are also persistent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'comfortness' (comfort), 'ware' (aware), and 'filed' (field). Some phrasing is awkward, such as 'leaving lives to the same place'. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the frequent minor errors in word formation and spelling prevent the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('many individuals wants', 'living... have', 'many fellows avoid... as the are rooted') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are several instances of missing or misused words that slightly impede the flow. The errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the core message, which is characteristic of the Band 6 level.
