Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, and the advantages and disadvantages of doing so. The ideas are relevant, such as the desire for a peaceful environment and the preservation of cultural values. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on disadvantages is brief and relies on a single example regarding migration. To reach a higher band, the arguments need more depth and clearer logical progression. The position is generally clear, but the conclusion is slightly repetitive and lacks a strong summary of the main points discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Hence, such people do not want to leave their ancestors roots'. Furthermore, there are instances where the flow is interrupted by grammatical errors, making the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'spend their most life' instead of 'spend most of their lives', and 'transformed from generation to another' instead of 'passed down from one generation to another'. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the recurring errors in word formation prevent a higher score. More sophisticated synonyms and accurate collocations are needed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('they a find difficult'), article usage ('in another country'), and prepositional errors. Some sentences are structurally incomplete or confusing, such as 'Thus, it result in limitation in their goals and a more conflicts between a family'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting and indicate a lack of control over complex grammatical forms.
