Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed. For instance, the discussion on emotional support and family business provides a clear rationale for the 'staying' perspective. The disadvantages are also clearly articulated, focusing on career and educational limitations. However, the response could be improved by providing more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The position is clear throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the benefits and drawbacks. Cohesive devices such as 'On the beneficial side', 'Apart from that', and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the sentence starting with 'Which create huge negative impact', which lacks a clear subject connection to the previous clause. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'hustle and bustle', 'proactive strategies', and 'eminent universities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'tuff situations' (should be 'tough') and 'get an exposure of outer world' (should be 'get exposure to the outside world'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A wider range of more precise, academic vocabulary would enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'it can be makes them', 'at village', 'miss an opportunities'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward sentence fragments, such as 'Which create huge negative impact in their overall growth'. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the text. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
