Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people choose to live most of their lives in the close-by places where they were born. This essay will discuss the reasons, benefits and drawbacks related to this approach.
One of the main reasons why individuals prefer to live most part of their lives in the nearby places where they were born is familiarity as it provides sense of security. It also makes day to day life easy when a person knows about travel routes, transport providers in a region. Moreover, financial constraint is the another reason. For example, an individual, born in an average family in a village, which has limited financial resources might not get a chance to relocate to another region of the same country or even another country. Consequently, these reasons will justify why they should live where they were born.
The one of the plus point of this approach of spending life in a place where people born is social-circle of friends. For example, an elderly can find assistance of childhood friends or known young adults in daily chores. The major drawback of this attitude that one can have is no personal or professional growth. For example, person living in a small town would never get the opportunity for getting education in a renowned educational institution, resulting in persuing traditional business occupation.
In conclusion, financial practicality and familiarity are the reasons people spend life in the place where they were born. While this attitude offers the advantage of living life with confidants and friends, it is also not without the disadvantage of no growth in terms of profession and personality.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons, advantages, and disadvantages. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of financial constraints is brief, and the discussion on professional growth could be more deeply explored with more specific examples. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band. The essay covers the requirements, but the ideas are presented in a somewhat superficial manner, which prevents a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For example', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph. Overall, the information is arranged coherently, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'financial practicality' and 'confidants', but there are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the one of the plus point' and 'persuing'. While the range is sufficient to discuss the topic, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. The errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the one of the plus point', 'the another reason') and subject-verb agreement ('people born' instead of 'people are born'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. The control of punctuation is generally good, but the sentence variety is somewhat limited, relying heavily on straightforward structures. More complex sentence forms could be used with greater accuracy to improve this score.
