Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people spend their entire life living at the same place or near by while some move out or relocate to different cities and to far places. Now there could be many reasons for both the situations.

The most common reason for people who move out to different locations is better opportunities and good quality of living.

Nevertheless, few individuals not matter what the situation is, how difficult their living is they still prefer living in the same city where they were born or close to their home. One of the significant reason is that some people prefer living with their families as they feel more relaxed when they live near their loved once. Secondly someland lords and farmers also spent their whole life living at the same place because of agriculture.

Futhermore, some people are restricted to live at the same place because of cost of opportunity that is involved. Moving to a different location could be expensive some times and not everyone is financially sound to bear the cost.

Moreover, there could be both advantages and disadvantages of this situation.

Firstly, the biggest advantage an individual can get is he or she get to live with families, a sorted life and less struggle. Secondly a good relations and close to communities. Better living if a person is financial strong.

On the flip side if we talk about the disadvantages, one of the major disadvantages an individual can have that lack of growth and future opportunities. undoubtedly people who spend their life living at same place might not be able to explore well and learn new skills which can lead not proper development.

From my own experience, I have many co-workers at my workplace who were born in the same city and spend have spent their whole life living at the same place. Now those people are not really familier with new technology and what is going on in the market.

To conclude, residing in the same town or living near by both have advantages and disadvantages, totally depends on the individual.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for staying in one's birthplace as well as the advantages and disadvantages. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'agriculture' is mentioned but not fully explained in relation to the prompt. The discussion on advantages and disadvantages is a bit brief and relies on lists rather than fully extended arguments. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed examples and ensure that the link between the reasons and the outcomes is more clearly articulated. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis could be improved to better meet the requirements of a Band 7.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Nevertheless', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Better living if a person is financial strong', which lacks a clear subject or verb. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the reasons and the advantages/disadvantages could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'relocate', 'opportunities', and 'development'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'loved once' (should be 'loved ones'), 'someland lords' (should be 'some landlords'), and 'financial strong' (should be 'financially strong'). There is also a lack of less common lexical items that would demonstrate a wider range. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'few individuals not matter what the situation is' (missing 'no matter'), 'some people are restricted to live' (should be 'restricted to living'), and 'not proper development' (missing 'a'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also problematic in several places. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical errors and practice using more complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences with greater precision.
