Student answer (Band 6.5)
Several individuals spend most of their lifetime living close to the location where they were given birth to which is as a result of some social and financial factors shaping their decision making process. Moreover, this usually effective merits and demerits on their lifestyle which will be discussed in this essay
First and foremost, financial constraints such as inability to afford the cost of relocating to a new far distance location is one of the major factors leading to people's decision in remaining at the same area where they are born. When people make decisions related to relocation, they tend to be affected by cost and they believe that they are more familiar with their background area which makes it easier to secure a better place at affordable cost. Furthermore other social factor could be as a result of the fact that they are already familiar with the individuals they meet while growing up and might be reluctant to start a new life in a location where they are unknown. For instance, most community members who remain in their background areas where they were born tend to be limited by inability to afford relocation expenses. Thus, financial and social factors contributes to the limitation of people in the same area they are born.
However, while people who remain in the same area where they are born usually have stronghold and influence in their community due to the series of events that has happened in their presence, it is important to note that these individuals are always limited to local knowledge of their environment. As a result of this, they tend to lack exposure and knowledge of the advanced world. When people remain in the same area from birth, people usually respect them and in most cases they usually get appointed to strategic leadership positions which gives them additional influence in the society. This also positions them as role models and historical source to the younger generation. On the other hand, individuals in this category face several limitations when it comes to knowledge and their relevance in the outer world due to lack of information.
In conclusion, People spend most of their lives living close to where they are born due to societal and financial reasons such as limited access to funds and familiarity with background. While this has negative effects on them such as lack of exposure, they also tend to serve as historical source to younger generations who are just coming up in the same community.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons, advantages, and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat repetitive. For example, the discussion on financial constraints in the second paragraph is echoed in the conclusion without adding new depth. The position is clear throughout, but the analysis of the 'advantages' (influence and leadership) could have been more nuanced to reach a higher band. The essay maintains a consistent focus on the topic, and the ideas are generally well-supported with logical explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. There is a progression of ideas from reasons to pros and cons. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', 'However', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is a bit repetitive, such as the frequent use of the phrase 'where they are born'. Paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is easy to follow, though the flow between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'financial constraints', 'relocating', and 'strategic leadership positions'. However, there is a lack of variety in word choice, with phrases like 'same area where they are born' repeated multiple times. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'given birth to' instead of 'born' or 'native area'. To improve, the student should focus on using synonyms and more precise academic vocabulary to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'this usually effective merits and demerits' is grammatically incorrect, and 'financial and social factors contributes' contains a subject-verb agreement error. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is recommended.
