Student answer (Band 6.0)

In contemporary era, everyone like to spend happy and healthy life. Due to this, some individuals like to stay most of the time near their birthplace, where they born and grew up. there are many reasons behind this statement which i will examine in further paragraphs with its merits and demerits.

Undoubtedly, to live near the place of birth has many reasons. The first and foremost is to maintain healthy relationships. To elaborate, in modern era, people are busy in their life and they do not have mush time to spend with their family members. So, that is why , if they stay in the area where they born then they can stay connected with their kith and kins which put good impact on their relationships and make it more strong.

Furthermore, this tendency brings more positive outcomes. The prominent one is to enjoy stress free life. To clarify it, when people stay near the city or town where they born and grown up then they have strong ties with people at that place. So, they can always share their feelings with them and get help through their difficult time. because when they go to new places then they do not know anybody or anything there which increase their stress level due to spending alone life. Therefore, it has merits to stay in the birthplace area.

However, there are some disadvantages of living near the area where people born. firstly, people cannot able to explore the other things in their life and cannot enjoy the different facilities. For example, if a person born in small town and spend his/her whole life in that area then he / she cannot grow in the life because big cities has more facilities such as good education and job opportunities. Eventually, people who stay near the particular area cannot enjoy the different experiences in their life.

In conclusion, although there are some benefits to stay near the birthplace area but the demerit are also there which cannot be neglected because people should experience everything in their life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying near one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on 'healthy relationships' and 'stress-free life' overlap significantly. The position is clear throughout, but the conclusion is slightly abrupt and could have been better linked to the main body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is distinct and fully explored with more specific examples rather than general statements about 'big cities' or 'small towns'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'However', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'So, that is why, if they stay...'. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between ideas could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs would benefit from more varied linking words to improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'good', 'happy', and 'things'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'kith and kins' and 'contemporary era', some collocations are unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'put good impact' instead of 'have a positive impact' and 'spending alone life' instead of 'living in isolation'. To improve, the student should focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring that word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone like to', 'big cities has'), missing articles (e.g., 'in modern era'), and tense inconsistencies (e.g., 'where they born' instead of 'where they were born'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and capitalization errors. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for verb forms would be highly beneficial.
