Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons, advantages, and disadvantages. However, the development of these ideas is limited. For instance, the reasons for staying are mentioned briefly as 'comfort zone' and 'parents', but these are not fully explored. The advantages and disadvantages are presented, but the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and does not effectively synthesize the points made. To improve, you should expand on your ideas with more detailed explanations and concrete examples to provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'In which' and 'ratherthan'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of arguments. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms. There are several instances of non-standard word forms, such as 'careeries choies' and 'depands'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using a wider variety of vocabulary, including collocations and less common lexical items, while ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'every onces want'), article usage, and sentence structure. While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often faulty or punctuated incorrectly. The majority of the sentences contain errors, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be a beneficial starting point.
