Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people spend most of their lives where they were born and others tend to travel far to start a new live. There can be many reasons for the natives to stay at one location their whole lives. It can either be the love for their hometown, which keeps them from leaving or it can be their friends and family. Not everyone can leave the comfort of their loved ones and move places for a different life.
There are many advantages of staying in the same area where you were born. You know mostly everyone around there, so in any emergency there are a lot of people in your support, these neighbours will be there in your sickness and your health. There is a sense of community living as you are native to the place. Even I prefer staying close to my place of birth as there is a sense of belonging and staying close to friends and family brings peace.
One disadvantage that I feel is that if your place of birth does not have a your desired weather conditions then it's probably best that you change places. I love beaches but in New Delhi there are non, so every now and then I do need a get away to experience beaches. Another disadvantage is that not all places are best for all types of education or industries. Like l want to work in a hedge fund and all major funds are in the UK or the USA, so I feel handicapped in my career path.
Although moving out feels interesting at first but the burden of leaving behind your family and friends is greater.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying, advantages, and disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention reasons like 'love for hometown' and 'friends and family', these could be expanded with more depth. The advantages are clearly stated, but the disadvantages section is slightly less developed, relying heavily on personal anecdotes rather than broader societal or economic perspectives. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear explanations or examples that demonstrate a deeper analysis of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. There is a progression of ideas from reasons to advantages and then disadvantages. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic and occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition between the advantages and disadvantages could be smoother. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences more fluidly, rather than relying on simple sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'handicapped in my career path' and 'sense of belonging'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'in any emergency there are a lot of people in your support' (should be 'to support you') and 'there are non' (spelling error: 'none'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid informal phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'start a new live' (should be 'life'), 'not all places are best for all types of education' (should be 'the best'), and 'in any emergency there are a lot of people in your support'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences are slightly clunky. The frequency of these errors does not impede communication, but they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and word forms.
