Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is true that many people prefer to live in their home towns instead of migrating to new places. This essay will discuss the factors associated with this aspect and as well as pros and cons in the upcoming paragraphs.
There are numerous reasons that people want to stay in the place where they were born. Firstly, the primary reason is the attachment to their neighborhood as they have spent the initial and most interesting days of their lives in this place. Therefore, instead of moving to new place, they choose to stay in their comfort zone. Secondly, it is more reliable as they are living in their home town since childhood, it enables them to have proper geographical knowledge of that particular area and they do not require any external documents to use educational and health care facilities. For instance, if they need to use facilities such as hospital, they do not need to spend extra on health cards which aliens have to do i n order to get check-ups in the hospital.
It is advantageous to live near the hometowns. The main reason is to stay connected to the roots of the particular culture. Therefore, the values and traditions of the culture are preserved for the coming generations. Moreover, people are mostly satisfied with their needs which eliminate the need to explore the world and makes them to stay there. However, it has some disadvantages. By staying at the same place may disable a person to stay stuck in the same job so, limited job opportunity is one of the cons. Additionally, it is costly to move around the world to find a better place to live so, people prefer to stay in their home towns for the rest of their lives.
In conclusion, there are numerous reasons that disables people to migrate such as attachment. Although it is advantageous to stay near home towns to stay connected to the culture, people do not get to explore the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, and the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as emotional attachment and cultural preservation, but the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation regarding 'geographical knowledge' and 'health cards' is a bit narrow and lacks depth. The argument regarding disadvantages is also slightly confusing, as the text mentions that staying in one place leads to limited job opportunities but then pivots to the cost of moving as a reason for staying, which is a repetition of a 'reason' rather than a distinct 'disadvantage'. To reach a higher band, ensure each point is fully extended with clearer logical links.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as 'and as well as' in the introduction, which is redundant. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for instance, in the third paragraph, the sentence 'By staying at the same place may disable a person to stay stuck in the same job' is syntactically awkward and makes the logical connection between the cause and the disadvantage difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'migrating', 'geographical knowledge', and 'traditions'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as using 'aliens' to refer to people from other regions, which is not the correct collocation in this context. The phrase 'disables people to migrate' is also an unnatural use of the verb 'disable'. Expanding the range of synonyms and focusing on more natural collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'it is more reliable as they are living in their home town since childhood' (tense error), 'makes them to stay there' (incorrect verb pattern), and 'By staying at the same place may disable a person' (incorrect sentence structure). Punctuation is mostly functional, but some sentences are clunky due to these errors. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb patterns (e.g., 'makes them stay'), and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with grammatical precision.
