Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people want to stay at the places that are nearby their birthplace. Although strong connections and similar culture are the reasons behind the scenario, from my standpoint, this trend brings both positive and negative impacts to human by offering them convenient lifestyle yet, degrade their personal growth, respectively.
One of the major reasons why individuals are so unwilling to leave behind their birthplaces is strong connectivity with their community. Sticking to one place helps people gain profound professional opportunities. It also diminish their work life struggles as they have been the part of the same environment since childhood. Another consideration is cultural identity. Same neighborhood allows a person to have a cultural identity which is missing in those who move away from their hometowns for work or study purposes. As a result, they attain a sense of comfort in their minds and lives.
On the optimistic side, this trend is of high benefits for attaining a comfortable and stress free lifestyle. People living nearby their hometowns not only have better connections but also a better hand in dealing with challenging circumstance owing to their strong relationships. To cite an example, in countryside, everyone are close because they have community presence on events, however, that lacks in towns where most people are migrants for either educational or professional purposes. Thus, living in home towns assures people with getting help when it is required.
On the negative side, the primary drawback of staying in hometowns throughout their lives is restricted personal growth. Individuals with no outside exposure are often less confident, lacks skills like communication, teamwork, collaboration and others; which hinder their personal development. To illustrate, a new comer to any foreign nation faces hardship in their initial days, but the same person after a few years in that place becomes more confident, resilient and strong as they achieve these skills through their life experiences. The change in environment brings out the best from them. Therefore, getting out of ones comfort zones is really crucial to achieve something bigger in life.
Taking everything into account, I finally conclude that strong community connections and culture are the reasons people want to reside at their home towns. Even though this benefits the individuals by providing them with stress free lifestyle, the deteriorating impact it has in the individual's character foundation can not be ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, and the advantages and disadvantages of doing so. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are generally well-developed. For instance, the explanation regarding 'cultural identity' and 'restricted personal growth' provides a logical basis for the arguments. However, some points could be more deeply explored; for example, the link between staying in one's hometown and 'professional opportunities' is mentioned but not fully substantiated. Overall, the response is relevant and maintains a consistent focus on the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'Another consideration', 'On the optimistic side', and 'Taking everything into account' are used effectively to link ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, there are minor instances where the transition between sentences could be more sophisticated. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the prompt, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use less common items such as 'profound professional opportunities', 'resilient', and 'deteriorating impact'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'better hand in dealing with challenging circumstance' (should be 'better equipped to deal with') and 'degrade their personal growth' (should be 'hinder' or 'stunt'). Despite these occasional errors, the range of vocabulary is adequate for the task and does not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'everyone are close' (should be 'everyone is close') and 'lacks skills' (should be 'lack skills'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing errors, such as 'the individual's character foundation can not be ignored' (should be 'cannot'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not significantly impede the reader's understanding of the arguments presented.
