Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying, advantages, and disadvantages. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the idea of 'emotional attachment' is mentioned in every paragraph, and the examples provided are quite generic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'reasons' by discussing cultural or economic factors beyond just emotional ties, and provide more specific, nuanced examples. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis is limited, which keeps the response at a Band 6 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'The main benefit', 'However', and 'To conclude' to signal transitions. While the flow is generally easy to follow, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. Some referencing is slightly repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'the place where they were born'. Improving the variety of cohesive links and using more sophisticated referencing would help the essay flow more naturally and move into the Band 7 range.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely heavily on simple phrases like 'make a closer relationship', 'good connection', and 'loss career opportunities' (note: 'loss' is a noun; the verb is 'lose'). There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. For example, instead of repeating 'place where they were born', you could use 'hometown', 'native region', or 'place of origin'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include article usage (e.g., 'at that place' instead of 'in that place'), verb forms (e.g., 'do not want to loss' instead of 'lose'), and missing prepositions. While these errors do not prevent communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct usage of verbs versus nouns. Increasing the variety of complex structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, would also help improve your score.
