Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, it has been seen that certain individuals prefer to live nearby their birthplace. This situation has several reasons such as friends & family support, accommodation availability, and etc. It does bring benefits like job opportunities and local community support for any businesses, but downside can't be overlooked.

One of the main reasons of living in hometown is to have an unconditional support of friends and relatives. Relatives in your hometown share history, values, and family ties that persist regardless of your career status or life changes. Additionally, childhood and teenage friends share deep contextual knowledge of who you are. Apart from this, person don't need to find a place to live. We have seen in numerous places where individuals have to find an accommodation when they leave their native place for future opportunities. consequently, it directly affect anyone's budget as person has to pay rent for living. For example, people live in foreign country have to live in rental building where they have to pay a rent.

One major advantages of this development is to have more job opportunities. When you reside at your homeland, you have good bond with local community and the members of the council always there for your support. For instance, one of the member of city council recently helped my relative to find job that suits his achievements. Moreover, there are more chance to be successful in business when we do at our birth city. These is because of strong relationship with individual of the local area. However, there are some disadvantages to consider. Person will not be able to leave their comfort zone, which will directly affect their future development as there are more chances to get a high wage job in developed countries which is away from birthplace.

In conclusion, while living close to place of birth has certain drawbacks such as not having personal growth, it's benefits in terms of several professional opportunities, local council support and etc. are more significant. Therefore, I believe the advantages of living with family and friends at place of nativity clearly outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying, advantages, and disadvantages. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the reasons for staying (family support, cost) are well-explained, the discussion on advantages and disadvantages could be more nuanced. For instance, the claim that living in one's hometown leads to more job opportunities is a generalization that lacks strong supporting evidence. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reiterates the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are supported by more detailed, logical explanations rather than broad assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Apart from this', 'consequently', and 'Moreover' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'These is because of...'). The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the flow between the advantages and disadvantages within the third paragraph could be improved for better coherence. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the logical structure is easy to follow throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'native place', 'comfort zone', and 'professional opportunities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'place of nativity' (which is slightly unnatural) and 'the members of the council always there for your support' (missing verb). The use of 'etc.' is informal and should be avoided in formal writing. Expanding the range of vocabulary to include more precise collocations would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'person don't need', 'one of the member', 'These is because') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'people live in foreign country have to live in rental building'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
