Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people like to live in their hometowns or nearby cities where they were born. There are numerous reasons behind this notion, and it has few benefits and various drawbacks which I will discuss in subsequent paragraphs.
To start with, culture and emotional bond with the hometown are the primary reasons, due to this reasons, people not able to leave their motherland. Culture is an integral part of everyone's life and that includes food, clothing and customs. People like to have same values in their lives and stay with people who are sharing same culture and this makes them happy and feel safe. Secondly, A place where a child spend their childhood, that place becomes very special for them and they share a strong emotional attachment with their hometown and do not want to stay far from the place where they were born.
Preserving culture is the only advantage living in the hometown, whereas less education and job opportunities are the main disadvantages. Staying and working in a town where a person born able to save their culture and would able to transfer their values to next generations as everyone has same rituals and values in one particular town. On the other hand, These people miss life opportunities, such as education in better school colleges and learn about other people's lives and their cultures. In addition, for better job opportunities people need to leave their motherland, if they do not leave, they miss chances to have a better life style.
In conclusion, Although living close to where a person born, has numerous drawbacks, still people chose to stay in their hometown, due to their emotional connection with the place and their people, and they able to save their culture by living at same place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's hometown, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat basic. For instance, the discussion on 'culture' as an advantage is clear, but the disadvantages regarding education and job opportunities could have been expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout, and the structure follows the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Secondly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions, such as 'due to this reasons'. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes repetitive or slightly forced, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher level of fluency.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and sophistication. The student relies on common terms like 'good', 'better', and 'same', which limits the precision of the argument. There are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'motherland' used in a context where 'hometown' or 'local community' would be more natural. While the meaning is always clear and there are no major spelling errors that impede communication, the range of vocabulary is not sufficiently broad to demonstrate the flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'a person born able to save', 'they able to save their culture'). Additionally, there are issues with sentence fragments and missing auxiliary verbs, such as 'people not able to leave'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to indicate a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms, keeping the score in the 5.5 to 6.0 range.
