Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people always prefer to live near the place where they were born and grew up. It is because of the familiarity and the support they receive from people around them. Although this development offers several benefits, it also has certain drawbacks.

One of the positive points is the ease of the lifestyle they feel while living in the familiar surroundings around them. As a result, they can live without feeling unsafe as they know the community around them. For instance, if some people run into some emegancy than it is way easier for them to get help in this type of situation.

Secondly, they have easier access to all types of resourses to complete their routine work. Consequently, they can do all the work with less effort and provide adequate time to their family members. This will help them to create a bond with them which leads to exciting and happy life throughout their life journey.

On the other hand, they have a limited opportunity for advancing in their career due to the lack of options for some industry work.

Moreover, they will fall behind in some areas as they did not want change their way of living and right now world is evolving drastically and changes are necessary for living peacefully. For example, if someone has a job opportunity to work in any reputed company which will provide them with greater living standards and learnings than they should think rationally before making decision.

At the last, I would like to say that everything has its own pros and cons it is person's choices which will help them to use resources according to their preferences.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as the comfort of familiarity and the potential for career stagnation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on 'resourses' and 'routine work' is quite general and lacks specific, illustrative examples that would elevate the response. While a position is clear, the depth of analysis remains at a basic level, preventing it from reaching the higher bands where ideas are fully extended and supported.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the positive points', 'Secondly', 'Consequently', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The concluding paragraph is quite weak and lacks a summary of the main points, instead offering a generic statement. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices could be more sophisticated and varied to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are often accompanied by spelling errors (e.g., 'emegancy' for emergency, 'resourses' for resources). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. The word choice is often simple, and there is a lack of collocations that would make the writing sound more natural. Improving spelling and expanding the range of topic-specific vocabulary would significantly enhance this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('they did not want change their way') and awkward phrasing ('if some people run into some emegancy than it is way easier'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the use of commas. While the errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is recommended.
