Student answer (Band 6.0)

Every individuals loves their motherland as they born there and they believe that it is a part of their life. Therefore, they prefer to live their whole life on that place. In this essay, I will write about the reasons behind this phenomena as well as the optimistic and pessimistic of it.

Beginning with the thoughts behind it, people does not want to separate from their place where are born as they love that place and emotionally attached with that. Also , ones think that its a precious part of their life as they spend most of their life for example childhood, schooling and some times employment phase. As a result, they have myriads of their relationships, significant memories and so on. A survey is conducted in 2022 in India , 70% of population did not move from their birthplace because they believe that its a important part of their life to live on that place.

Moving onto the positive side of it, They have massive circle there like family, friends, relatives and etcetera. They can spend their quality time with them whenever they wants and live a healthy and better life-style. Moreover they cannot face loneliness. Apart from it, Limited resources may be the negative side of it. Sometimes places are backwords and have not proper resources. This may leads to less education, job opportunities for them as they can face struggle to interact with the world and may not adapt the changes in the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, and the advantages and disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of why people stay is repetitive, focusing mainly on emotional attachment. The advantages are briefly mentioned (social circle), and the disadvantages (limited resources) are touched upon but lack depth or specific examples. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or illustrative examples, rather than just listing them. The position is clear, but the overall development remains superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from reasons to advantages and disadvantages. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Beginning with the thoughts behind it' or 'Apart from it'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'ones' in the second paragraph. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some basic terms repeatedly, such as 'place' and 'life'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'optimistic and pessimistic of it' (should be 'advantages and disadvantages') and 'backwords' (should be 'backward'). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the range is limited, and the errors in word formation occasionally draw attention to the language rather than the content.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Every individuals loves', 'people does not want'), article usage, and pluralisation ('a important part'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score.
