Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this era, a number of pupils spent most of their life near to the place where they were born since, they feel attached to their house or village and town. Moreover, there are some pros and cons related to this, which i will discuss in the upcoming paragraphs.

Firstly, folks do not want to leave their house or town because they can not be separated from their family, especially parents. their is a reason behind this, some guardians treat their child like a little baby even when they get older. However, half of the individuals do not leave because they have facilities and opportunities in that particular society or state.

Furthermore, the first advantage is being close to people and friends, as well as having so many people who will support and act as a backbone for their children. For instance, my younger brother is currently living in India with my parents, as an adult.

Despite this, there are disadvantages to a lack of confidence and poor communication skills are major problems, that human beings have to face if they do not leave their comfort zone.

To recapitulate, in my opinion, pupils should leave their country or hometown while, being in touch with their relatives it is human nature if they do not leave, how will they succeed in life? That is how evolution also happened millions of years ago. People live once, and because of that, explore everything and every country and communicate with other cultures and enhance your speaking level.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying, advantages, and disadvantages. However, the development is somewhat superficial. The reasons provided (family attachment and local facilities) are relevant but lack depth. The advantages and disadvantages are mentioned, but the explanation of the disadvantages—specifically 'lack of confidence'—is underdeveloped and lacks a clear logical link to the act of staying in one's hometown. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments would benefit from more detailed elaboration and specific examples beyond the brief mention of the writer's brother. To reach a higher band, the ideas need to be extended with more thorough reasoning and analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'To recapitulate', which help guide the reader. However, some of the transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Despite this, there are disadvantages to a lack of confidence'. The referencing is occasionally unclear; for instance, the pronoun 'their' in 'their is a reason behind this' is used incorrectly. While the paragraphing is functional, the internal flow within paragraphs could be smoother to better connect the ideas presented.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. The student uses basic terms like 'pupils' (which is inappropriate here as the topic is about adults), 'folks', and 'little baby'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'evolution also happened' and 'enhance your speaking level', which sound unnatural. While the meaning is clear, the range is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To improve, the student should focus on using more academic vocabulary and precise phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('a number of pupils spent'), punctuation errors (comma splices like 'born since, they feel'), and incorrect pronoun usage ('their is a reason'). The use of articles and prepositions is also inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence boundary control is necessary.
