Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing reasons why people stay in their birthplace as well as the associated advantages and disadvantages. However, the ideas are somewhat generalized and under-developed, lacking depth in the supporting examples. Furthermore, as noted in the length check, the essay contains only 236 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This under-length impacts the overall fullness of the response and prevents the ideas from being fully extended. Consequently, the task achievement is constrained to a band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, showing a basic structural framework. However, the logical progression is at times hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions, such as 'There are two primary reasons of this view' and 'On the side, one of disadvantage is'. Paragraphing is attempted, but cohesion is mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear. Overall, the arrangement provides a coherent overall shape, but the faulty or limited cohesive devices place this response firmly in the band 5.0 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited and displays noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'tranquility', 'enlightenment', and 'cooperation', but makes frequent word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors (e.g., 'traquility ans convenient', 'near and dear ones', 'cultral backgrounds', 'more outweight'). There is also repetition of basic terminology throughout the text. This reflects the descriptors for band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'family is highly debatable', 'people who generally grown up', 'all family members have same'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'challenges which faced by people'). While meaning is generally retrievable, the frequency of errors places it at a band 5.0 level.
