Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions and give relevant reasons for staying near one’s birthplace, especially family care and preserving cultural roots. The example about young people caring for ageing parents supports one reason, and you also identify a disadvantage: fewer career opportunities. However, the response only partially develops the task. The reasons are clearer than the advantages and disadvantages, and the disadvantage is mentioned briefly without an example or explanation of its impact. The claim that staying nearby is “the best way” to preserve children’s cultural values is also asserted rather than supported. To strengthen the response, explain the trade-offs more fully and make the relationship between birthplace, family ties, and living nearby precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph focused mainly on family benefits, a paragraph introducing a drawback and cultural continuity, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and ideas do not always progress smoothly. The third paragraph shifts from limited career opportunities to the effect of migration on children’s culture, so the contrast between disadvantage and advantage is not clearly managed. Repeated references to “roots,” “native place,” and “closer” also make the progression feel circular. Grouping the advantages together and giving the disadvantage its own clearly developed explanation would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “migrate,” “cultural roots,” “aged parents,” and “career opportunities,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision. Phrases such as “connect to our roots,” “bonding between the families,” and “live closer to their nativity” are awkward or unclear in context. There are also noticeable misspellings, including “yougsters,” “naitvity,” and “childern.” Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; precise phrases such as “maintain ties with their heritage” would make the argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “although,” “if,” and “when,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction remain. For example, “Residing close to motherland have” needs a singular verb and an article, while “an individual born” is missing a form of “be.” In “youngsters who wants,” the verb does not agree with its subject, and “will not able to explore” lacks “be.” Some sentences also combine contrasting ideas awkwardly, particularly the sentence beginning “Although there might be a chance.” Review subject–verb agreement and build contrast clauses into complete, clearly punctuated sentences.
