Student answer (Band 6.0)
People love to visit the place where they were born, while some individuals love to live close to their hometown. In my opinion, it has both advantages and disadvantages which will be explained in further paragraphs.
To begin with, people love to live place where they were born because they have an emotional connection with that place. They spent their childhood there and lived with their family for many years. Moreover, they have their cousins and friends there with whom they shared their memories. Also, some families want to live with their children with them because they are older in age and want to spend time with their kids. For instance, recent study shows that parents who live with their children live longer.
On the other hand, living in the place where people are born and raised has some disadvantages as well. Citizens who stick with one place may lose opportunities for future because they do not want to leave that place. Additionally, people who live in one place for a longer time will not know what is happening in the world, as they will not know the struggles people have to face on a regular basis because they are living in their ancestral place. people who live in countryside areas also suffer problems, such as grocery stores, gas stations and health facilities being far away from their location they live.
Overall, people love to live in their birthplace due to their close relations with their family and friends, but they can lose opportunities for the future by sticking to one place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both questions: it gives reasons for staying near one’s birthplace, including emotional ties, childhood memories and family, and it identifies disadvantages such as missed opportunities and limited access to services. These points are relevant, and the conclusion restates the central contrast. However, the advantages are not clearly explained as advantages in their own right, and the claim that parents living with their children “live longer” is presented without explanation or a convincing example. The point about not knowing “what is happening in the world” is also broad and needs a clearer link to remaining in one place. Develop each main idea with a specific consequence or example, and make the benefits as explicit as the drawbacks.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the main stages, and the central topic remains consistent. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, the first body paragraph combines emotional attachment, friends, and parents’ wishes without clearly separating reasons from benefits. The final disadvantage about rural services also arrives abruptly, and the conclusion does not summarise the advantages. Use clearer links between each claim and its consequence, and organise related points so the progression feels more deliberate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, with relevant expressions such as “emotional connection,” “future opportunities,” and “health facilities.” The writer also attempts topic-related language, including “ancestral place,” although this is not the most natural expression in context. At this level, meaning is generally understandable, but repetition of “live,” “place,” and “people” limits range, and several collocations are awkward, such as “love to live place” and “lose opportunities for future.” Choose more precise, natural phrases and vary repeated words where possible. For example, “remain near their birthplace” and “miss out on career opportunities” would express these ideas more idiomatically.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses both simple sentences and some longer structures, including the relative clause “with whom they shared their memories” and the conditional-style explanation beginning “because they do not want to leave that place.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in basic patterns and in longer sentences. Examples include “live place where they were born,” which is missing “in the,” and “parents who live with their children live longer,” where the repeated verb makes the sentence awkward. In “people who live in countryside areas,” the article is missing, and the sentence about facilities has an unclear ending: “from their location they live.” Check articles, prepositions and clause construction, and revise long sentences to make their relationships clear.
