Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people like to live their lives around their birth place. Sense of closeness could be the main reason behind this. The drawbacks to this could be limited growth and less interaction with modern people and innovation. On the other hand, its benefits sre less transportation and closeness to family.
The most important advantage of spending time near to hometown is less use of transportation which means that individuals do not need to travel a long jouney to visit their cities resulting in less transportation cost and pollution to the environment. For example, if a person from Brampton is working in Toronto, can visit his place in short span of time. Adding to this, people can see their family oftenly. To elaborate, it becomes easy for working generation to meet their companions on every occassion to celebrate happiness and sorrows together.
The biggest drawback for a person who is spending his time near his comfort place is less opportunities for growth that means people could not be able to grasp the right possibity for their financial as well as mental development. For instance, it is a fact that people who like to spend their life in their comfort zone will never get progress. Another disadvantage is limited knowledge of outer world which means these people miss the chance to explore diiferent cuisine, infrastucture and fashion.
In conclusion, the perks of living near birthplace such as less commute and visiting families are important but the deriments of this such as less growth and limited cultural knowledge can never be neglected.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you suggest attachment to home as a reason and discuss benefits such as easier family visits and reduced travel, alongside drawbacks such as fewer growth opportunities and less exposure to other cultures. These points are relevant, but the reasons people remain near where they were born are not developed beyond “Sense of closeness,” and the response focuses more on advantages and disadvantages. Some support is also unclear or over-generalised: “people who like to spend their life in their comfort zone will never get progress” is an absolute claim rather than a well-explained example. To strengthen the response, explain several plausible reasons—such as work, affordability, or community ties—and develop each main point with a specific, credible illustration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates the main contrast. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “Adding to this,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph. This is a solid foundation, with some evidence of flexible organisation. However, the opening lists the benefits and drawbacks without clearly introducing the reasons asked for, and some links between claims are mechanical or unclear. For example, “which means” repeatedly introduces explanations, while “resulting in less transportation cost and pollution” does not connect smoothly to the example. Use more varied, precise transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its support explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “transportation,” “pollution,” “financial … development,” “comfort zone,” and “cultural knowledge.” These choices allow you to discuss both practical and personal effects, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems limit precision: “birth place,” “less transportation,” “working generation,” and “limited knowledge of outer world” are not natural expressions in context. There are also misspellings such as “jouney,” “possibity,” and “diiferent.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than more elaborate wording—for example, “lower commuting costs,” “working adults,” and “exposure to other cultures”—and proofread carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “which means,” “if,” and “who,” so there is some variety in sentence structure. Most of the argument remains understandable despite some grammatical errors. For example, “if a person from Brampton is working in Toronto, can visit his place” lacks a clear subject in the main clause, and “people could not be able to grasp” combines incompatible verb forms. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and sentence construction, as in “near to hometown” and “on every occassion.” Work on building complete clauses and checking verb patterns; revising these sentences into clear subject–verb structures would improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at complex sentences.
