Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people prefer to continue their lives in their hometown rather than travel abroad and start a new life away from their family and friends. In this essay we will estate some reasons and clarify both the pros and cons for such decision.
People prefer to spend most of their lives close to their home town, because of the intimacy of being around people they know and love such as siblings and relatives, instead of travelling to other country and live alone. Even if they have an opportunity for higher standerd of living, better job or education. they believe that does not worth living alone in another country. For instance, many people think it is better to live in mid class in their country without owning a car or a house than living overseas with all these facilities.
Living in the hometown has many advantages, such as easy communication with others and traditions. To illustrate, when people live in their native country they won't be obligated to learn a new language to communicate with others. Nonetheless, they are familier with the traditions in their own country. However, many people who refuse to immigrate miss the chance to pursue better higher education, or better standards of living for themselves and their kids. Additionally, travelling teach people various skills on how to deal with different cultures and traditions. and how to respect other people believes.
In conclusion, while spending your life around your family and friends in your mother country provides intimacy and love, Travelling abroad will broden people's horizon and give them better view over the other peoples' lives and traditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: you explain that people stay near family and familiar surroundings, then discuss benefits such as communication and cultural familiarity alongside drawbacks such as missed education and living-standard opportunities. The example comparing a modest life at home with greater facilities overseas helps illustrate the motivation. However, the reasons are developed more clearly than the advantages and disadvantages, and some points remain general. For example, “easy communication” and “traditions” are named but not explained in much detail, while the disadvantages could be linked more directly to people who remain in their birthplace. The conclusion summarises the contrast, but does not clearly state which considerations matter most. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph weighing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Nonetheless,” and “However” help signal examples and contrasts. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some flexibility in organising the discussion. At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear: “Nonetheless” does not clearly contrast with the preceding point, and “and how to respect other people believes” is detached from the sentence before it. The conclusion also shifts from “people” to “your life,” weakening consistent reference. Make links between claims more explicit and ensure each sentence is grammatically and logically attached to its paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “hometown,” “higher education,” “standards of living,” “immigrate,” and “different cultures.” These choices allow you to express the main ideas, and there are attempts at more specific phrasing such as “pursue better higher education.” However, the range and control are uneven, with noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that sometimes make the meaning less natural. Examples include “estate” for “state,” “intimacy” where “closeness” is intended, “familier,” and “broden.” Some collocations are also awkward, such as “better higher education” and “better view over.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; a smaller set of well-controlled expressions would make the argument clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast introduced by “Even if.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation. For example, “Even if they have an opportunity … they believe” is left as a fragment, and “travelling teach people” needs subject–verb agreement. In “instead of travelling to other country and live alone,” the parallel structure is not maintained. There are also sentence-boundary and capitalization problems, such as the full stop before “and how to respect” and “Travelling” capitalised mid-sentence. Review complete sentence formation, agreement, and parallel verb patterns, then proofread punctuation and capitalization.
