Student answer (Band 5.5)

This is the most widely discussed topic in our current world. As many believe it is really wonderful to live this way other think opposite of it. Most people live where they were born, because it has become their comfort zone which is not easy to be left behind. They have grown there, every single thing around them connects to them in their very own way.

There could be many reasons but i believe that the comfort zone is the most concrete among the all. They have make there home, developed their community and grown there family in that a particular environment. Another prominent reason could be people hate change. Most individual love to live the way they use live since they are born. Even a small shift tends to impact them a lot.

There are endless number of advantages but the major one is that most humans feel secure near the place they were born. This feeling of safety do not let them move out. Other prominent cause could be friend circle and society. For instance if some one moves out, its really hard for that guys to make new friend where nobody knows him. he has to start from zero.

For some one the glass is half full but others it is half empty. Same way there are certain disadvantages of it. People can never be able to explore the beauty of this world, because there are countless number of place which are worth visiting. They would miss the chances to develop them because the challenges new places offer can never be seen at your place you were born.

To bind up, this discussion can never be over. But i strongly recommend people should leave their birthplace and explore the wonderful world. Otherwise they can't taste the whole menu if they just stick to one dish.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you explain staying near one’s birthplace through familiarity, resistance to change, security, and social ties, then discuss benefits and drawbacks. The examples about finding new friends and missing opportunities to explore are relevant. Your final recommendation also makes your position clear. However, the advantages are less fully explained than the reasons and disadvantages: security and friendship are mentioned, but their practical value could be developed with a specific example. Some claims, such as “people hate change” and that people “can never” explore, are broad and need qualification. Explain how these factors affect people’s choices and balance the conclusion with the disadvantages of leaving.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement, moving from reasons to advantages, disadvantages, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have identifiable purposes, and linking phrases such as “Another prominent reason” and “For instance” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections feel mechanical or imprecise: “There could be many reasons but” does not clearly signal the relationship to the opening, while “For some one the glass is half full” introduces the disadvantages through a loosely connected cliché. References such as “this way” and “it” can also be unclear. Use more direct topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports; this would make progression smoother and cohesion less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “comfort zone,” “developed their community,” “feeling of safety,” and “explore the beauty of this world.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and you attempt some expressive phrasing. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “the most concrete among the all,” “grown there family,” “endless number of advantages,” and “develop them.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “some one” and “friend circle.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim for standard collocations and check spelling and word forms, especially when using less familiar expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because” and “if,” and most ideas remain understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “They have make,” “This feeling of safety do not let them,” and “Most individual love to live the way they use live.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly the lowercase “i” and sentence openings such as “he has to start from zero.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and proofread each sentence for complete, correctly punctuated structure.
