Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the topic only minimally. It gives one possible reason for staying near one’s birthplace—emotional ties to friends and the neighbourhood—and mentions a general benefit and disadvantage, but it does not clearly explain why people remain there or develop both sides with relevant examples. The disadvantage about leaving one’s “comfort zones” is asserted rather than explained, and the final sentence is unfinished, so the overall position is not fully conveyed. The introduction promises “pros and cons,” but the discussion is too brief to fulfil that promise. The response is also 113 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to answer all parts adequately. To improve, explain several reasons and develop specific advantages and disadvantages with examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: an introductory statement is followed by paragraphs signposted with “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” then an attempted conclusion. These markers help the reader identify the intended structure. However, the ideas do not progress clearly from the question’s reasons to a balanced discussion of advantages and disadvantages, and the conclusion stops at “and that can,” leaving the argument incomplete. The first body paragraph also contains only one brief point, while the second shifts to the benefits of moving away without clearly linking this to the disadvantages of staying. Build a clearer sequence, use each paragraph for one developed aspect of the task, and complete the conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “emotional bond,” “comfort zones,” and “communication skills,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited, with repeated reliance on broad terms such as “location,” “world,” and “benefits.” Several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce naturalness: “consider it as a motherland” is awkward, “friendly neighbourhood” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “more socialize” uses the wrong form. There are also misspellings such as “thay,” “emotinal,” and “diffrerent.” Use more precise phrases for family ties, local support, employment, and personal opportunities, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “as” and contrastive paragraph openings. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in several sentences. For example, “This essay will illustrates” has an incorrect verb form, while “living close to the home city will helps” has faulty modal construction. The sentence beginning “where they have born” also has an incorrect verb form, and the final sentence is incomplete. These problems sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Practise modal verbs followed by the base form, accurate present-perfect/passive forms, and complete sentence construction. Proofread each sentence for subject–verb agreement and ensure that every concluding clause is finished.
