Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's fast-paced society, people indulged so deeply in their that work they do not even get spare time for their loved ones. Some individuals love to be sticked to the place and spend their lives where they were actually born. There are several reasons for this, such as the comfort and homely atmosphere this places provide. In the subsequent paragraphs, I will discuss some advantages and disadvantages for this trend.

To commence with, living in one's birthplace provides comfort, security and a homely atmosphere. a person living in a place from a longer time gives a sense of comfort as they know the local people, shops, cultures and lifestyles. Also, they are more familiar with the all kind of certainties such as during emergency they know whom to connect, how to connect, which route they can choose while travelling. For example, a person connect with their family and share daily routine during dinner time which creates a strong positive environment for their well-being. Furthermore, meeting childhood friends who live nearby helps people stay away from loneliness. Hence, the abovementioned reason why people chose to live near family and friends.

On the other hand, sometimes, the desire to live close to loved ones can prevent people from pursuing better opportunities. A person may reject a well-paid job in another city because they do not want to leave their parents. To elaborate on this, a person who pursue job on nearby location may face financial difficulties on later stage as these places not provide high salaries and their career growth become limited due to which they face financial crisis and leads to stress and anxiety. Moreover, a person is not able to meet market standard as when a person work from different city or state their thinking horizon become broader and cross culture working provide great exposure which helps them in future.

In conclusion, although spending most of the time where one born sometimes hinder your career progress and lead in the direction of loneliness. However, staying closed to loved ones provides a stronger sense of warmth and security which improves our overall well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you suggest familiarity, security and closeness to family as reasons for staying, then discuss benefits and drawbacks. The examples of rejecting a better-paid job and relying on nearby family help make the discussion relevant. However, the reasons are not always clearly separated from the advantages, and some points need fuller explanation. For instance, the opening refers to people being too busy for loved ones, but this idea is not connected to why they remain near their birthplace. The disadvantage paragraph develops career limitations, while the conclusion introduces loneliness as a consequence without explaining it earlier. A clearer account of the reasons, followed by more balanced development of both benefits and drawbacks, would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for positive and negative aspects, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To commence with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to follow. This gives the essay a coherent progression, and the central contrast is apparent. Some links, however, feel mechanical or do not accurately express the relationship between ideas. “Hence, the abovementioned reason” does not clearly conclude the preceding examples, and the final reference to loneliness is not prepared for in the body. Some sentences also contain several connected points, making the progression harder to track. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and ensure the conclusion reflects points developed in the essay.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “homely atmosphere,” “financial difficulties,” “career growth,” and “exposure.” These choices help communicate ideas about security and opportunity. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions reduce precision, such as “sticked to the place,” “market standard,” and “cross culture working.” There are also word-form and collocation problems in phrases such as “a person connect with their family” and “these places not provide high salaries”; these make parts of the argument less fluent, even when the intended meaning can be inferred. Aim for natural collocations and check whether a phrase expresses the exact idea you intend. More precise wording would help you explain the contrast between local familiarity and wider career opportunities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and attempts at complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “as,” and “which.” This allows you to explain causes and consequences, and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, some grammatical errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “a person living in a place from a longer time gives,” “a person who pursue job,” and “their thinking horizon become broader.” The long sentence beginning “To elaborate on this” also combines several ideas without a clear grammatical structure. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, as in “a person” after the first paragraph break. Review subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and divide long sentences into clearer units while retaining some complex structures.
