Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this fast-paced environment some individual would like to live closure to place where they were born. In this essay I will discuss merits and demerits of living nearby to birth place.

To begin with, there could be several reasons why people choose to live in town where they were born. Firstly, they can easily adapt the environment rather than moving to another places and settle down. For example, If a student move to another country he will needs to adapt their culture and weather. Student as a result prefer to pursue their study in hometown rather than moving to city side. Secondly, individual do not feel lonely as they are surrounded by their loved one's.

On the otherside, there are many drawbacks of not moving to other places. The main demerit is that one cannot pursue higher study until and unless higher education is provided in their area. For example, recent study conducted by United Nation shows that higher level of skills are visible from employee who has opted to leave their hometown in order to pursue a good career. Furthermore, there could be very limited facility available in countryside compare to cities. Apart from that exposure to diffrent culture also depicts how people live their life in other parts of the globe.

In conclusion, there are several advantages at living birth place like getting better exposure of cultural environment. However I personally believes that in order to get better life for loved ones moving to another place where better opprtunities are avaiable is the best choice.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you suggest familiarity, easier adaptation and closeness to loved ones as reasons, then discuss educational and career limitations and access to facilities as disadvantages. These are relevant ideas, and your conclusion gives a clear preference for moving to places with better opportunities. However, the advantages are not fully explored: the opening promises merits and demerits, but the body mainly explains reasons for staying and gives little detail about the benefits themselves. Some support is also unclear, particularly the claim about a United Nations study and employees’ skills; explain how this evidence supports your point or use a more specific example. Developing the advantages and clarifying this evidence would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “On the other side” help signal the movement between points, and the main ideas can generally be followed. However, the first body paragraph combines reasons for staying with an example about studying, so the relationship between the point and its support is not always clear. The second paragraph also moves quickly from education to facilities and cultural exposure without explaining the links. In addition, the conclusion introduces “better exposure” as an advantage, although this has not been clearly established earlier. Group related ideas and use clearer references between claims and examples.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “adapt,” “pursue higher study,” “higher education,” “facility” and “opportunities.” These choices show an attempt to discuss education, work and place rather than relying only on basic terms. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions reduce precision: “live closure to place,” “city side,” “on the otherside,” and “better exposure of cultural environment.” There are also spelling errors such as “diffrent” and “opprtunities.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “close to the place where they were born,” “move to a city,” and “exposure to different cultures.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example (“If a student move to another country…”) and a sentence beginning “in order to.” Most of your meaning remains understandable, but some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction are noticeable. For instance, “a student move” needs subject–verb agreement, and “he will needs” combines incompatible verb forms. In “individual do not feel lonely,” the singular subject also requires a different verb form. The sentence about the United Nations study is difficult to follow because its structure is not clearly controlled. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
