Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mohit,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to give the advise about your room as you will also moving in the same university where I did my study.
When I was studying in the law university I found so many places for my living purpose but I cannot any suitable option. As a study you know everybody wants quite place which is impossible for me to find it. After that, with my parents advise I decided to live in University Hostel. I realized that the atmosphere near by me was not good and room was sharing.
I would recommend you if you will find the private room near by University. It will more convienent and save your time. You will have your own privacy and will do study more efficiently.
The things which you should be careful firstly do not sign any lease. Moreover make sure everything will be included like gas, electricity, water etc. One more thing do not leave your room without lock either you will go for the local site.
I hope this advise will more useful for you.
Your lovingly,
Teenu Walia

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You described your own experience in the university hostel, recommended private accommodation, and provided warnings about leases and utility inclusions. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the explanation of why you chose the hostel is a bit unclear, and the warning about not leaving the room without a lock is somewhat ambiguous. To improve, ensure that your advice is explained with more clarity and logical flow to fully satisfy the reader's needs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'After that' to link ideas. However, the progression between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between your hostel experience and the recommendation for private rooms. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help improve the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'atmosphere', 'efficiently', and 'convenient'. However, there are several word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'advise' (should be 'advice'), 'quite' (should be 'quiet'), 'convienent' (spelling), and 'near by' (should be 'nearby'). These errors do not significantly impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring correct spelling of common academic and everyday terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb tense ('as you will also moving'), article usage, and sentence construction ('I cannot any suitable option'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'either you will go for the local site', which makes the meaning unclear. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy of the response. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and basic sentence structure will help improve your score.
