Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Friend

I hope you are doing well in your life. First of all, congratulations on the offer that you received from the college. I really miss my college time the place, friends, faculty and all the fun which I did in my college days.

During that time I was living in PG instead of hostel rooms, you should also choose PG. The hostel rooms are not so spacious and the single rooms are not available for students, due to which studies would have been affect. The PG where I lived is 1km away from college and departmental store, medical shop, grossery shop all the facilities are there. The name of the PG is "The Shree Shyam PG".

On the other hand, I would like to give you one friendly suggestion that if you are going for document submition please don't tell them you are looking for PG, because they might start convincing you to choose hostel. I will share the details of PG with you so that you able to reach correct place.

Their are several rules of PG which might be bothering you, firstly the in PG loud music and big cars are not aloud. Secondly, as its a girls PG so boys are not allowed to enter not even brother or male classmates. Try to take care of these things.

If in case you need any help or guidance feel free to call me.

Thank you

Tamanna

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You described your living situation, recommended a method for finding accommodation, and provided a warning about common mistakes. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For example, the warning about 'document submission' is slightly confusing and could have been explained more clearly to ensure the reader understands the logic behind the advice. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of explanation could be improved to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The email is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'On the other hand', and 'Firstly'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing the PG location to the 'document submission' advice lacks a smooth connection. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different topics, which helps the reader follow your points, but the overall progression could be more fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'spacious', 'faculty', and 'guidance'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'grossery' (grocery), 'submition' (submission), and 'aloud' (allowed), which indicate a lack of precision. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it is somewhat basic and lacks the variety of less common lexical items that would be expected at a higher band level. Improving your spelling and using more precise collocations would enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'the fun which I did' (the fun I had), 'studies would have been affect' (studies would have been affected), and 'Their are several rules' (There are). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing.
