Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points, but the development is quite limited and at times unclear. You mention where you lived, suggest a way to find accommodation, and attempt to warn the reader about mistakes. However, the warning is not clearly articulated; the text focuses more on promoting a specific hostel ('neel side') rather than providing general advice or warnings about common pitfalls students face. The tone is informal, which is appropriate for an email to a friend, but the lack of clarity in your explanations makes it difficult for the reader to follow your advice effectively. To improve, ensure each bullet point is fully developed with clear, logical sentences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The email lacks clear paragraphing, which makes the text appear as a single, dense block. There is a lack of logical progression between ideas, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited. You rely heavily on simple conjunctions like 'and' to connect ideas, which creates a repetitive flow. Referencing is often unclear; for example, it is difficult to determine who you are referring to when you say 'he' or 'there'. To reach a higher band, you should use clear paragraph breaks for each bullet point and incorporate a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'however') to guide the reader through your email.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and often inaccurate, which occasionally impedes communication. Phrases like 'up down with train' and 'not any kind issue' are non-standard and hinder the clarity of your message. You attempt to describe the hostel using words like 'authentic', 'healthy', and 'secure', but these are not always used in the correct context. There is a lack of variety, and the repetition of words like 'hostel' and 'kind' limits the sophistication of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to housing and travel, and try to use more precise adjectives to describe your experiences.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors that often make sentences difficult to understand. There are significant issues with verb tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. For instance, 'i will current live' and 'there will be easy to catch' are grammatically incorrect. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making the text feel fragmented. You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that your verbs match the time frame you are discussing (past vs. present).
