Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Katu Shyam,
I hope you are doing well. It was great to hear that you are looking for the place nearby University.
I lived in Amristar near by Guru Nanak University. I completed my master last year from this University. The University atmosphere is very good and friendly staff. All sorts of facilities are available in the University like library, cateen, ground. The best part is inside of University there is Cinema where they usually offer the cultures movies.
I will not recommend you to choose the hotel of University. You can find the locations by facebook market, some advertisements as well references based. I also heard that behind of the University there is also resdential area build where they give rooms to the students.
I will ask one think that make sure you will take care of every thing while finding the place like transport, markets as well as neigbhours. Also sign only four month contract by you owner.
My best wishes are with you. Hope so you will find good place as soon as possible.
Your lovingly,
Teenu Walia.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You described your past living situation, recommended ways to find accommodation, and provided a warning about potential mistakes. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the advice regarding the 'hotel of University' is slightly unclear, and the warning about signing a 'four month contract' could be explained more effectively to show why this is a mistake. To improve, ensure that your advice is specific and clearly linked to the student experience to better satisfy the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The email is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use basic cohesive devices like 'also' and 'the best part is' to connect ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the logical progression is slightly hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'I will ask one think that make sure'. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'this University') is consistently clear and accurate throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate your message, such as 'atmosphere', 'facilities', and 'residential area'. However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'cultures movies' instead of 'cultural films', 'facebook market' instead of 'Facebook Marketplace', and 'references based' instead of 'word-of-mouth recommendations'. Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'cateen' (canteen) and 'resdential'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for spelling accuracy to ensure your writing sounds more natural and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'I completed my master last year from this University' (should be 'my master's degree'), 'behind of the University' (should be 'behind the university'), and 'sign only four month contract by you owner' (should be 'with your landlord'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically articles, prepositions, and possessive pronouns, as these errors occur frequently throughout your writing.
