Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Aman,
I hope this letter finds you in radiant health. I am happy to hear that you have offered a position in a course at same university where I have complete my graduation. Through this letter, I would suggest you some good living places near the university as you ask for my recommendation in your previous letter.
There are many accommodation options are available close to university such as PG, hoste, and rented homes for university students and employees. You can choose from these accommodation types according to your requirements. I would like to mention that I lived in a PG near UT market located oposite side of university. I was good place to live with affordable rent. Moreover, all amenties are avaible in all rooms like kitchen, bathroom, furniture, and fans. I advice you to visit owner personally before renting any accomodation. This will give you chance to observe the room and available facilities. Many students book rooms on phone and never meet owner personally. Due to that they unaware about the lack of facilities in room such as fridge and kitchen that can pose many challenges.
I hope you would like my recommendations and strictly follow them to choose room.
Thank you.
Yours lovingly,
Rajdeep kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you describe your own PG near the university, advise Aman to inspect a property in person, and warn against booking without meeting the owner. The details about affordable rent and room facilities make the personal description relevant. However, the recommendation is narrower than the task invites: you do not explain how to find or compare accommodation, such as using university housing services or trusted student groups. The warning focuses on missing facilities, but could also mention checking the contract, location, or extra costs. Some ideas are therefore less fully developed than others. A clearer, more specific recommendation for the search process would make the advice more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The email has a recognisable structure, moving from an opening, to accommodation advice, and then to a closing. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Due to that” help show how details relate, and the reader can follow the main message. However, the central paragraph combines the available options, your personal experience, the recommendation, and the warning in one long block. This makes the progression less clear, and “Due to that” does not refer smoothly to the preceding sentence. Separate the description of your former accommodation from the practical advice, and use clearer links such as “To avoid this” when introducing the warning. The sign-off is appropriate for a friendly email, though the overall organisation could be more deliberate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of relevant accommodation vocabulary, including “PG,” “rented homes,” “affordable rent,” and “available facilities,” so the topic is clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “radiant health” and “pose many challenges.” However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions reduce accuracy, including “hoste,” “oposite,” “amenties,” “avaible,” and “accomodation.” Phrases such as “living places” and “good living places” are also vague, while “position in a course” is not a natural way to describe a university offer. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and proofread spelling; this will make your vocabulary more precise without needing unnecessarily formal language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the relative clause in “a PG near UT market located opposite side of university” and the explanation beginning “This will give you chance…”. The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “you have offered a position” needs a different verb construction, and “where I have complete my graduation” has an incorrect verb form. There are also errors with articles and agreement in “There are many accommodation options are available” and “I was good place.” Work on verb forms, sentence construction, and articles, and check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb. These corrections would improve control while preserving your attempts at varied structures.
