Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Manveer,
I am really glad to know that you got admission in your dream university, where I completed my studies. I believe this place provides good education. Now, you want some advice from me regarding a place to live.
Firstly, I am recommend you girl's hostal where I lived during mu study time because it is by walking distance from university. Additionally, there are some other facilities like grocery store and a shopping centre.
There are many online apps where you can search for accommodation, you can get some knowledge from classmates and visit the hostal in person.
On the other hand, you need to take care of several things such as visit the place before sending money online, check the place is in crowed area or not, otherwise you will face some difficulties such as concentration due to loud noise, also check neighbourhood for safety.
I hope you will take my advice seriously, see you soon and lots of love and best wishes for new begnning.
Best regards,
sunny

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points in a friendly, appropriate email. You explain that you lived in a girls’ hostel near the university, suggest using online apps, classmates and an in-person visit, and warn Manveer to check the property, noise and neighbourhood safety before deciding. These details make the advice relevant and practical. The description of your own accommodation and its facilities is clear, but the recommendation could be more decisive: explain which search method you consider best and why. The warning about noise and concentration is also less fully explained than the safety advice. A little more development of these points would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The email has a clear overall sequence: congratulations and context, your accommodation experience, search advice, warnings, and a friendly closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Additionally,” and “On the other hand” guide the reader. The progression is generally easy to follow, though some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “There are many online apps where you can search for accommodation, you can get some knowledge from classmates” joins several suggestions without showing how they relate. The warning sentence also contains several checks and consequences in one long chain. Use separate sentences and clearer links such as “You could also…” or “Before paying…” to make the cohesion more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main advice, including “facilities,” “accommodation,” “neighbourhood,” and “concentration.” The tone is suitable for a personal email, and the reader can understand your main points. However, several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “hostal,” “crowed,” “begnning,” and “by walking distance.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “get some knowledge from classmates” and “I am really glad to know that you got admission.” These do not prevent understanding, but they make the message less fluent and idiomatic. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for accommodation and university contexts to make your vocabulary more accurate and flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and most of the message remains understandable. The sentence beginning “because it is by walking distance from university” gives a reason, while “otherwise you will face some difficulties” attempts to explain a consequence. Some grammatical errors remain, however. “I am recommend” uses an incorrect verb form; write “I recommend” or “I would recommend.” In “check the place is in…,” use an indirect-question structure such as “check whether the place is…”. The warning sentence also runs several clauses together, making its structure difficult to control. Break it into shorter sentences and check articles and sentence boundaries, for example “near the university” and “check the neighbourhood is safe.”
