Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people believe that the modern world is the best period in the history to be living. Personally, I completely agree with the statement becuase of major improvement in medicine and technology from the past. However, if I had to choose another historical era, I would choose the Renaissance period to live in.
On the one hand, there are clear reasons why people think that the 21st century is a best era in the history as compare to the past. The most important factor in advancement in healthcare. In the previous centuries, people died even from a minor infection and a small disease. They did not have proper healthcare to prevent and control the effect of diseases. Nowdays these illnesses can easily be cure by vaccines and antibiotics. Due to this average life expectany has increased. Furthermore, Technology has made our lives much easier and connected. The internet allow us to access information instantly and communicate with people anywhere in the world. These comfort make the modern era very convenient and safe.
On the other hand, living in historical period like the Renaissance would be facinating. This was the period around 14th and 17th centuries in the Europe. In this time one of the most famous artists were born. Mostly famous work of art, music, science and literature is from this time. It would be great opportunity to live in the time when populars artists such as Leonardo da Vinci was creating their masterpieces. Although, it would be difficlult to live without modern luxuries, but witnessing these kind of human creativity would be highly rewarding.
In the conclusion, I believe that present day is the best time to live due to safety, advanced medical care, technology. However, The Renaissance is a exciting historical era which would be wonderful experiece for its rich culture and history.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your response addresses both questions and maintains a clear opinion: you agree that the present is the best time to live, while selecting the Renaissance as an alternative. The reasons for your view—medical advances and global communication—are relevant, and you explain how vaccines, antibiotics and the internet affect people’s lives. You also give a specific example by naming Leonardo da Vinci. To make the ideas more fully developed, explain more precisely what you would find interesting about the Renaissance beyond its famous artists, or support the claim that it was a particularly creative period with a concrete example. Some statements, such as “These comfort make the modern era very convenient and safe,” are broad and could be qualified or explained further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your position and alternative era, two body paragraphs develop each point, and the conclusion restates your view. The contrast signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the structure, while “Furthermore” adds a related reason. This organisation is effective, though some connections feel formulaic, and the Renaissance paragraph moves quickly from the period’s dates to art and then to your personal interest. Use clearer links between these points and vary transitions where possible. The conclusion is relevant, but it largely repeats the introduction; a brief synthesis of why present-day advantages outweigh the appeal of Renaissance culture would create a stronger sense of progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “healthcare,” “infection,” “vaccines,” “antibiotics,” “masterpieces” and “human creativity.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and “witnessing these kind of human creativity” conveys your interest in the Renaissance. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “becuase,” “Nowdays,” “expectany,” “facinating” and “experiece.” Some collocations are also awkward: “a small disease,” “a best era,” and “populars artists” do not sound natural in context. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, such as “minor illness,” “the best era,” and “famous artists.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including the conditional “if I had to choose” and the concession “Although it would be difficult…”. The main meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include article and comparison errors in “a best era…as compare to the past,” subject–verb agreement in “The internet allow us,” and “one of the most famous artists were born.” There are also problems with plural and determiner patterns in “These comfort” and “these kind of human creativity,” as well as punctuation in “Although, it would be difficult…”. Review articles, agreement, and singular/plural forms, then proofread each sentence to improve accuracy while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
