Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is identifiable: you acknowledge the convenience of modern technology but argue that an earlier, less technologically advanced period was better because people were more social and healthier. You also give relevant examples, including commuting by car or public transport and pollution from factories. However, the task asks which other time in history would be interesting to live in, and you do not identify a specific historical period; “old time” remains vague. The discussion of modern life is more developed than the alternative period, and the claim about natural food is not supported with much explanation. State a particular era and explain what would make living then interesting, while extending your reasons with specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “On the other hand” helps readers follow your shift from technology’s benefits to the disadvantages of modern life. However, progression within the second body paragraph is uneven: social isolation, money, pollution and food are introduced in quick succession, so the central argument is not consistently developed. Some linking phrases, such as “Not only this,” do not clearly show how the next point relates to the previous one, and the conclusion introduces natural food without preparing this idea earlier. Organise each paragraph around one main reason, use clearer references between sentences, and connect the conclusion directly to the points already discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “technology,” “public transport,” “polluted,” “factories” and “toxic gases,” which helps communicate your main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “hectic life schedule” and “surge in tech environment,” but some combinations are unnatural or unclear. Repeated basic wording such as “easy” and “people” limits precision, while spelling errors—including “certian,” “benifit” and “convient”—are noticeable and can distract the reader. Build a more accurate range of collocations for discussing historical periods, social life and environmental effects, and proofread spelling. For example, “people life” could be “people’s lives,” and “extract pollution to environment” could be “release pollutants into the environment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive clause beginning “Although” and an example introduced by “For example.” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to process. For instance, “Normal day to day tasks has become” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “people use to had time” combines verb forms incorrectly. The opening sentence also lacks clear grammatical structure, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and past-tense statements, then check each sentence for a complete clause. More reliable control of these basics will make your ideas easier to follow.
