Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some civilians believe that present time is the best as comapred to past to be residing. I completely accord with this notion that present time have numerous oppurtunities.

Commencing with the salient reason that in today's worlds we encompass many digital devices which assist to lessen the household chores. However in past, Indviduals consume a plethora of time to complete their work. For instance, nowadays people have washing machine which clean their clothes which makes easier for housewifes leads to reduce stress. Another worth considering reason is trasnsportation. Mankind utilizes vehicles to move to destination whereas in ancient time humans did not have transport like bus, car etc. which makes their routes so long.

Therefore, If i want to live in heritage period I prefer living in 1990s. Owing to In 1990s lifestyle was very simple and peaceful. To be elaborated, human beings in 1990s was free of stress because atbthat time there was no burden of stress on the people. Life was very slow which makes the environment peaceful.

To conclude, although modern life has so much technolgy which makes work easier to relieve the tension whereas having a peaceful and simple life in 1990s also feels as stress reliever.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear opinion that the present is the best time to live, and you provide relevant reasons involving household technology and transport. You also answer the second question by choosing the 1990s and describing that period as simpler and more peaceful. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these ideas are brief and largely asserted rather than explained or supported with specific examples. The claim that people in the 1990s were free of stress, for instance, needs qualification or evidence. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, leaving limited space to develop both parts. Extend each main point with explanation and a relevant example, and clarify why the 1990s would be interesting to you.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: it introduces your view, gives reasons for preferring the present, discusses the 1990s, and ends with a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish these parts, and signposts such as “For instance,” “Therefore,” and “To conclude” guide the reader. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Therefore” does not clearly follow from the preceding discussion when you shift to the 1990s, and the final sentence combines contrasting ideas without making their relationship precise. The progression within paragraphs is also brief, so points are not consistently linked through explanation. Use transitions that show the intended relationship, and develop each paragraph from a main idea to its supporting detail.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital devices,” “household chores,” “transportation,” and “lifestyle,” and the main meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “salient reason” and “worth considering.” However, several choices are unnatural or inaccurate, including “civilians” for people generally, “accord with this notion,” and “heritage period” for a historical era. Spelling errors such as “comapred,” “oppurtunities,” and “technolgy” are noticeable, while phrases such as “today’s worlds” and “makes easier” show imprecise word forms or collocations. Aim for natural, accurate expressions rather than overly formal wording, and proofread spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which” and “because,” and the reader can usually follow your main points. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “present time have numerous opportunities” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “human beings in 1990s was” has both agreement and article problems. In “which makes easier for housewifes leads to reduce stress,” the clause structure is incomplete and the relationships between actions are unclear. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “If i” and the comma after “However.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation during revision.
