Student answer (Band 5.5)

Certain people believe that current era is the perfect time in history to be living. I agree with this statement as we have better lifestyle and more carrer opportunities nowdays. Howoever, I feel that early 80's would be amazing to live in, since people were healthier then.

To begin with, the ongoing world is perfect place to live in because has made our life super easy and comfortable. From just one tap to get the food delivered at your doorstep to mutiple job availability across the globe, which was not the case in the past. For instance, people would go to dine in by walk or a car, however they can easily order the food, groceries and medication from their favourite place at anytime. Moreover, it save their time. Additionally, the new era of internet has been tremendously beneficial for people who can apply for mutiple jobs online and work from home, they do not need to relocate, wich was not possible few years back.

Furthermore, the old times would be absolutely interesting to witness. Eventhough during that time people had less facilities, I believe they were more healthier than now. Everything was mostly organic and people lived a happy life, since they were not distracted by social media.

To conclude, current time is the best to live in history

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that the present is the best time to live, while identifying the early 1980s as another interesting period. You give relevant reasons, including convenient services, online work opportunities, healthier lifestyles, and fewer social-media distractions. However, the two parts are not developed equally: the present-day advantages receive examples, whereas the 1980s are supported mainly by broad claims such as “Everything was mostly organic.” The conclusion also repeats your view without summarising the comparison. The response is 30 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop the historical example with a specific detail and explain more clearly why it would be interesting to experience that period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphing broadly separates your reasons for preferring the present from your interest in the past, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help the reader follow the main stages. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. The sentence beginning “From just one tap” is a fragment, and the following “For instance” sentence does not connect smoothly to it. The conclusion is also very brief and does not bring the two parts together. Use complete sentences, link examples directly to the claims they support, and add a concluding comparison to strengthen progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “career opportunities,” “delivered at your doorstep,” “relocate,” and “distracted by social media,” so your meaning is generally clear. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “carrer,” “nowdays,” “mutiple,” and “wich,” alongside unnatural expressions such as “ongoing world” and “more healthier.” These reduce precision and make some phrases sound less natural. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose collocations that fit the context; for example, describe the present as the “current era” rather than the “ongoing world.” More precise vocabulary for the historical period and its lifestyle would also help you explain your ideas with greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using clauses with “because,” “since,” and “however.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message remains understandable. However, several sentences contain grammatical errors or incomplete structures. “Because has made our life” lacks a clear subject, while “From just one tap to get the food delivered…” is not a complete sentence. There are also issues with articles and agreement, as in “current era” and “it save their time,” and the final sentence does not clearly complete the comparison introduced by “Even though.” Work on forming complete clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, and using articles consistently. These improvements would make your varied sentence attempts more controlled.
