Student answer (Band 5.5)
People have different views regarding the best time in history to be living. and other say current period is best to live because of facilities. I personally agree with both opinions, and I will discuss why I agree with both in the cumulative paragraphs.
In general, many people like to live in the past time because of the cultural things and feeling of connection with their roots. For example, people who get separated from their land or birthplace because of political issues as well as personal reasons. They want to stay in past because in that time no thing like that, and they had peace in their life and enjoying their life.
However, many humans love to live in the current situation because of the facilities they got right now. A facilities are internet, transportation, communication and many more. As a result, all this make their life easier as a comparison to last two decades. so , they prefer this kind life.
In conclusion, i would like to say that each situation have their own pros and cons it depend on personal choice which time they desire to live and for me i can adjust for both current and past time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the two parts of the prompt, the discussion is superficial. For instance, the explanation of why people might prefer the past is vague, mentioning 'cultural things' without specific examples. Similarly, the section on the current era lists basic facilities like 'internet' and 'transportation' but lacks depth or analysis. To improve, you must expand your arguments with concrete examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You use basic cohesive devices like 'In general', 'However', and 'In conclusion', but the internal flow within paragraphs is often disjointed. For example, the transition between the idea of 'political issues' and 'peace in their life' is abrupt and lacks logical connection. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'no thing like that', which makes it difficult for the reader to follow your intended meaning.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms such as 'things', 'facilities', and 'good/best'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'past time' (should be 'the past') and 'cumulative paragraphs' (which is not the correct term for body paragraphs). To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary and demonstrate more precision in your word choices. Avoid using overly simple phrasing and try to use more sophisticated synonyms to express your ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('a facilities'), subject-verb agreement ('each situation have'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'and other say current period is best'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct punctuation and verb forms, before attempting more complex structures. Improving your control over articles and pluralisation will also help clarify your writing significantly.
