Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is often argued that a present era is the best time to be living. I completely agree with aforementioned notion as it provides us better than ever technology and facilities which have made our life more comfortable.
The primary benefit of living in present time is that we can enjoy the facilities and technology which was not possible back in history. In addition, you can order food while sitting at home without going all the way to restaurant. Moreover, you can travel from one place to another in least amount of time ever in history. For instance, in developed nations, people travel through bullet trains which not only save their time, but also provide comfortable journey. In addition, there are smartphones which can help you stay connected with your friends and family in any part of this earth.
However, there are some interesting times in history which I believe fun to live and there is such time period is 1960s. During this time, many scientific discoveries happened. Additionally, you could enjoy the ride of old cars which are very rare during present times. Besides that, many countries got their freedom from the British government and took steps for the development of their countries. For example, it would be very interesting to watch the moon landing first time ever in history which was almost impossible before that time. Not only, these projects gave humanity new sight about space, but also inspires many future projects.
To sum up, the idea of living in modern time finds itself surrounded by controversy. From my standpoint, the present moment is the best time to live rather than worry about history.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the present era and the choice of another historical period. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on the 1960s is a bit superficial, listing events like the moon landing and old cars without fully explaining why these would be 'interesting' to live in beyond a surface-level observation. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the implications of your examples, connecting them more deeply to the human experience of those times.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'To sum up' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'In addition' is used twice in the second paragraph, which affects the flow. Additionally, the referencing in the final paragraph ('the idea of living in modern time finds itself surrounded by controversy') is slightly disconnected from the previous arguments, as the essay did not actually present a balanced debate or controversy.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'developed nations', 'scientific discoveries', and 'controversy'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'aforementioned notion' is slightly formal/stilted for this context, and 'enjoy the ride of old cars' is not a natural collocation; 'appreciate the aesthetics of vintage automobiles' would be more precise. There are also minor errors, such as 'new sight about space' instead of 'new perspective on space'. Expanding your range of collocations will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical slips. Examples include missing articles ('a present era' should be 'the present era', 'watch the moon landing first time' should be 'watch the moon landing for the first time') and issues with verb tense or agreement ('there is such time period is 1960s'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band. Focusing on article usage and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
