Student answer (Band 6.5)
SOME PEOPLE ARE OF THE OPINION THAT THE BEST TIME IN HISTORY TO LIVE IN IS NOW AND I CAN TOTALLY AGREE WITH THEM DUE TO THE ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY , SCIENCE AND EDUCATION.
NOWADAYS, HISTORY HAS BEEN KIND TO US DUE TO A LOT OF PROGRESS MADE IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY. IN THIS OUR TIME, WE CAN NOW USE MOBILE PHONES, LAPTOPS AND OTHER FORMS OF TECHNOLOGY THAT WAS NOT THERE IN THE PAST. ALSO, SCIENCE HAS GROWN BEYOND HUMAN REASONING. PEOPLE NOW GO INTO THE LABORATORY TO PROFFER SOLUTION TO KILLER DISEASES .
ON THE SECOND INSTANCE, WE CANNOT ARGUE HISTORY HAS BEEN IN FAVOR OF EDUCATION IN RECENT TIME. THE TREMENDOUS PROGRESS EDUCATION HAS MADE IN THIS OUR GENERATION CANNOT BE OVEREMPHASIZED. ALL OVER THE WORLD, EXPERTS ARE THERE HELPING TO SOLVE PROBLEMS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFICULT TO SOLE IN THE PAST, ALL THANKS TO EDUCATIONAL GROWTH.
ALL THESE BEEN SAID, WE CANNOT FORGET THAT THEY WHERE OTHER TIME IN HISTORY THAT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO LIVE IN.
I AM TALKING ABOUT THE PERIOD WHEN FAMILY ENJOYED STAYING TOGETHER MORE THAN TRAVELING ABROAD AS WE EXPERIENCE THIS DAYS. DURING THOSE PERIOD, YOU WOULD KNOW ALL YOUR NUCLEAR AND EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBERS BY THERE NAMES BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING THAT BRINGS EVERYBODY TOGETHER. NEVERTHELESS, THE TREND HAS CHANGED, PEOPLE NOW STRUGGLE TO KEEP COMMUNICATION WITH THERE IMMEDIATE PARENT AND SIBLINGS.
CONCLUSIVELY, I AM STILL OF THE OPINION THAT HISTORY FAVORED PEOPLE IN RECENT TIME THAN THE PAST

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why the present is the best time to live and an alternative historical period. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention technology and education, the explanations are brief and lack specific, concrete examples. For instance, you mention 'killer diseases' but do not name a specific medical breakthrough. The second part of the prompt regarding an interesting historical period is addressed by discussing a time of stronger family bonds, but this is a general concept rather than a specific historical era. To improve, ensure you provide more detailed, illustrative examples to support your arguments, which will help you move into higher band scores.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Also', 'On the second instance', and 'Conclusively'. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or unnatural, such as 'On the second instance', which is not standard English usage. Additionally, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to show clearer relationships between your ideas. The paragraphing is logical, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be strengthened by ensuring each sentence builds more effectively on the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'advances', 'technology', and 'educational growth'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'history has been kind to us' or 'proffer solution'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'they where' instead of 'there were' and 'there names' instead of 'their names'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensure you proofread carefully to avoid basic spelling and homophone errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'all these been said' (should be 'all this being said'), 'there where other time' (should be 'there were other times'), and 'in recent time' (should be 'in recent times'). Subject-verb agreement and pluralization are inconsistent throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and plurals will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
