Student answer (Band 6.5)

Life is all about living freely. No matter, where you are, just live your life fully, most of the people believe this. Life is the beautiful gift by God. Moreover, If I talked about today's time, there is a lot of people who consider this time is best. Because they have everything, including house, food, clothes. All the things which are basic needs of a person.

Not only that, but people also have the access of everything, they can explore on internet, use the technology whenever they want, reached anywhere in just some hours, and buy whatever they want. For example, nowadays, we have mobile phones which is the best example of technology. We don't have to remember a phone number, and we can capture all the memories for lifetime.

I believe that every coin has two sides. This time is best because we do advancement in every field, such as academics, sports, technology, science, and infrastructure. On the other side, digital crimes increased, privacy effected, social media become everything, no availability for loved ones.

Even though we did best in this time, but we lost so many things which was the part of our lives.

According to me, 18s was the best time. In 18s there were no internet. Thus, People talked about the feelings, not about the instagram reels. Every relationship was genuine. People did not follow each other on social media because these kinds of things didn't exist at that time. Furthermore, it could be so interesting to live there. When you don't have tv, phone, and laptops around you.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on whether today is the best time to live and the choice of another historical period. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention technology and infrastructure as benefits, the discussion on the '18s' (1800s) is quite brief and lacks specific historical detail or examples to fully support your choice. To improve, ensure that each main idea is supported by a clear explanation or a concrete example. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis could be increased to better meet the requirements for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Moreover, If I talked about today's time' or 'According to me'. The transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the jump from discussing modern technology to the negative aspects of social media is a bit abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would improve the overall flow and logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'infrastructure', 'advancement', and 'genuine'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'privacy effected' (should be 'affected') and '18s' (which is not standard usage for the 19th century). Additionally, some phrasing is repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'best time'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary and idiomatic expressions, and pay closer attention to word forms and standard historical terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('there is a lot of people'), article usage ('the internet'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are fragmented or lack proper structure, such as 'No matter, where you are, just live your life fully, most of the people believe this.' While these errors do not usually impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall clarity. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors will help improve your score in this area.
