Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 166 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address the prompt, the second part of the question—asking which other time in history would be interesting to live in—is completely ignored. The position is unclear, and the ideas provided are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or logical depth. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed and expand your arguments with relevant supporting details to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the sentences within the paragraphs are disjointed and often run together, making the flow difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'and' and 'along with'. The transition between ideas is mechanical rather than fluid. To improve, focus on using transition words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to link your thoughts, and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed main idea.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'accnt' (ancient), 'aniesters' (ancestors), 'realtions' (relationships), and 'religus' (religious). These errors, combined with basic word choices, make the text difficult to read at times. You should focus on expanding your vocabulary related to history and social structures and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy. Using more precise terminology would help convey your points more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in sentence structure, punctuation, and verb tense. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'in olden days i heard from our aniesters that they value realtions more than money .past centures people work hard'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and basic subject-verb agreement is often incorrect. To improve, practice writing complete, grammatically correct sentences and focus on using a variety of structures, including subordinate clauses, while ensuring that punctuation is used correctly to separate distinct ideas.
