Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some individual believe that now is best time in history to be living. I am agree with this but other time is also interesting such as a time when technology has not developed properly.

To commence with, Today's time is best for living. The first reason for this is comfort zone. To elaborate, Nowadays people had more technology and they do not need to work with their hands. For example, people now had machines available for even their daily chores. Before this period people had to struggle even for small tasks. Moreover, now every person have cell phones, everyone has access to information about any part of world. For example, with cell phones they can get any knowledge as well, they can also share anything with anyone in some minutes. As a results, these things make people believe that this is best time to live in.

On the other hand, I am also believe that the time in which people do not have any machines or technology is best one. For example, people have stress and anxiety issues nowadays but in past age people do not have any stress related medical condition. Moreover, Diseases like obesity is grown after the invention of these machines.

In conclusion, no doubt, technology has made life easier now in every field whether in medical or in education system but past age is not worse as people think. I believe in both period people had their own struggle and may had best life in any period.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the current era and the alternative historical period. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons for your preference for the present (comfort and technology), the discussion regarding the alternative period is less detailed and relies on generalizations about stress and health. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully extended with specific examples or deeper analysis. Your position is clear throughout the essay, which is a positive aspect of your task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the benefits of technology and the drawbacks in the third paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that your referencing is precise will help improve your score in this area.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific words like 'technology', 'anxiety', and 'obesity'. However, there is a reliance on simple, repetitive language (e.g., 'best time', 'people', 'things'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations. There are also some minor word-choice errors, such as 'I am agree' instead of 'I agree' and 'past age' instead of 'the past'. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated vocabulary would significantly enhance your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Some individual believe', 'every person have'), article usage ('in past age'), and verb tense inconsistencies ('people had more technology'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and article usage, will be essential for your progress.
