Student answer (Band 6.5)
2) Some people believe that the present is the best time in history to live. I Mostly agree with this opinion because modern life offers better healthcare, technology and education and job vaccaincy. Howevere I also think that somme periods in the past would have a interesting to amazing exeerience.
Now days people enjoy many advantages that were not available before. medical science has improved also allowing people to live longer and healtheier lives. Technology has also made a communication education and work much easier for example students
can study online and families living in different countries can stay connected through video calls. many people have more career opportunities and better access to information than ever before. these developments have improved the quality of life for millions of people.
on the other hand if we looked at base if i had the chance to live in another period of history. I would choose the 1990s. Life during that time was simpler and less stressful because people were not dependent on smartphones and social media. families and friends spent more time together and children often play outdoors instead of spending hours on electronic devices. also technology was less advanced, many people believe that relationships were stronger and life was more peaceful.
In my opinion the present is still the best time to live because the benefits of modern technology, medicine, education are far greater than the disadvantages. At the same time i believe we can
learn valuable lessons from the past by maintaining stronger personal relationships and enjoying a healthier work life balance.
In conclusion, I agree that today is the best period in history to live due to the many opportunities and comforts available. other living in the 1900s would be have been uninteresting experience because of its simpler lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the present day and the choice of a historical period. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant. However, the development is somewhat basic. For instance, the discussion on the 1990s is a bit superficial, focusing primarily on the lack of smartphones. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples to support your arguments, such as discussing specific medical breakthroughs or contrasting the 1990s with the present in more depth. The conclusion contains a slight contradiction regarding the 1900s, which slightly impacts the clarity of your final position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'on the other hand' and 'in conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the run-on sentence in the second paragraph ('medical science has improved also allowing...'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences flow more naturally into one another would improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'career opportunities,' 'electronic devices,' and 'work-life balance.' However, there are several spelling errors ('vaccaincy,' 'Howevere,' 'somme,' 'exeerience,' 'healtheier') and some awkward phrasing ('if we looked at base'). These errors are noticeable but do not generally impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary to elevate the sophistication of your arguments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain errors in punctuation and grammar, such as missing commas or incorrect verb forms ('other living in the 1900s would be have been'). There are also frequent issues with capitalization and sentence boundaries, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence structure and punctuation rules.
