Student answer (Band 6.5)

A group of people claims that this is the perfect time in history to be living. Indeed I think the same way. Both my opinion and any other time to live in history will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.

People have different perspective when we talk about the best phase to live on. I think that right now is the best time because as the technology and development in growing exponentially in all the sectors make our life easy, fast and reliable.

The best example to support this idea is AI(Artificial Intelligence). Nothing is impossible nowadays to do, with the help of AI we can lots of things that once we were just imagining like driverless cars, robots in all industry, new technologies and many more.

On the other hand, some group of people think that late 19th century from 1985 to 1999 was the best time to live on. This is because they think at that time we do not have this much advance system. So, people used to be hard working and smart enough to sole there problems by their own. For instance, in past if your car broke down mechanic needs to spent more time just to figure out what and where is the problem by working hard whereas, now you just need to connect your car to laptop and you will get detail report with solutions of the problem. Also, this group of people say they do not have major health issues due to daily hard work.

In conclusion, I think this is the best time to live not only because of ease in technology and fast forward lifestyle but also because of the development in all the sectors is making this time more livable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed both parts of the prompt: your opinion on the current era and an alternative historical period. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, your explanation of why the late 20th century was preferable relies on a single example regarding car repairs, which lacks depth. To improve, you should expand on the 'why' behind your choices, perhaps discussing societal values or quality of life in more detail. Your position is clear throughout, but the arguments could be more robustly supported to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in your argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly. The referencing is generally clear, but some transitions feel abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a more cohesive narrative.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'exponentially', 'reliable', and 'artificial intelligence'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'live on' instead of 'live in' and 'sole there problems' (should be 'solve their problems'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit your score. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your word forms are accurate in different contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'A group of people claims' (should be 'claim'), 'as the technology and development in growing' (should be 'is growing'), and 'mechanic needs to spent' (should be 'needed to spend'). While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, verb tense consistency, and article usage.
