IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that now is the best time in history to be living.

What is your opinion about this?

What other time in history would be interesting to live in?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The world is changing tremendously. Day by day, the technology is growing and the scientist are finding new inventions. So, in my opinion, the present time is the best period in history to be living.

To begin with, the changes taken place the field of transportation is mind blowing. Decades back, it took couple of days to travel from one country to another. But now by the invention of airplanes, travelling became more convenient and faster. Moreover, before people were struggling to contact the distant relatives and there were no possible way to see them. However, by the availability of smartphones, and gadgets, people could talk by seeing each other and make the relationship bond more stronger.

In addition, the percentage of people who die due to health problems has considerably decreased compared to older days. Before, there were no medication for illness like thyroid, diabetes, and so on. But, now everyone is getting treatment for all kind of diseases.

Even though, the trust, love and care which people had before is not available nowadays. The family relationships are not good as before. Such things have changed, but I believe now is the best time we have.

To achieve a higher score, focus on using more academic collocations and precise vocabulary to express your ideas more effectively.

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'the technology is growing and the scientist are finding' (subject-verb agreement), 'changes taken place the field' (missing preposition), and 'there were no medication' (plural/singular agreement).
